Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current job is with ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta Collins was a bilingual since she was nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first job in the production department at Univision in Miami which allowed her to collaborate with producers of national shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. It was the CBS station of St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as a sports reporter. In 2009, she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Reporters covered issues related to the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs across both Texas as well as Mexico. Also, she would fill in at times as a news and sport anchor. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's Dallas-affiliate station. In that station, she was given greater accountability. She produced pieces about MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Aside from this, she also hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She became a sports host for the morning program that is Despierta America Deportes. Also, she was an anchor on sports in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22 the 22nd of November, 1985. She has a sister. The family relocated to Miami after relocating to Mexico into the US. In 1992, her parents divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she was remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in the year 2006 due to kidney cancer. It was during a holiday in the summer that she lived with her younger sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured a job. Antonietta was a senior in high school, yet she was clear about the career she wanted. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit for her, Antonietta visited the school. The campus was beautiful and provided the education she wanted. After graduation, she went to the University as a media studies major. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU, of which she is a member. They had a very close connection. He inspired her to believe in herself and his enthusiasm in journalism was a huge influence on her, and she in turn, strived to fulfill his standards and never let him down.
